Collage is a form of artwork that has interested me since I was a young child. In fact, my first artworks consisted of paperdolls cut out of the Sears catalog and newspapers and pasted on paper.I especially like the fact that images and memorabilia, as well as objects and text can be included in a collage. These artworks are part of a continuing autobiographical series. | |||||||

Childhood
Memories, 12
1/2" x 17" I remember being fascinated by the lights in the back of a radio when I was small. Creating a pattern that resembled a night time cityscape. Another pattern that was magical to me were the sparkling stars on a crisp country night seen through tree branches that created a lace-like effect.Fire flies illuminated the foreground. My mother propped a coiled box spring up against the kitchen wall. "don't touch it," she said. and I fully intended not to, but the patterns created by the metal coils were too interesting to ignore and begged to be climbed. There is theme of pattern recognition in this collage based on early visual memories. |
