Work Experience

Recruiting Manager, US Census Bureau ( 2009 –2010) Hialeah, FL. Responsible for the management of all aspects of recruiting for the Hialeah, FL office for the 2010 Census. Prepared a strategic recruiting plan reflecting local demographics, in order to provide staffing needs for all field and office positions. Trained and supervised the recruiting department, a staff of 39 office workers and recruiters, ensuring the successful operation of testing and processing of applicants to fill 1380 Hialeah Local Census Office positions. Conducted weekly conference calls with regional office and with staff as needed. Reported to local office manager and regional office in Atlanta through weekly written staff reports. First office in Dade County to achieve meeting recruiting goals, (13,000 tested 8,200 qualified) applicants three months in advance. Interacted with local government officials and community and business leaders, obtaining support for recruitment efforts through the donation of testing and training spaces for promotion of the 2010 Census.

Enumerator, US Census Bureau (2009) Miami, Florida Verified and mapped addresses using GPS, entering captured data into GIS System on hand held computer. Researched remote areas interviewing appropriate agencies and making on-site visits in order to determine habitation status.

Wine Consultant & Educator (2005 – 2009) Miami, Florida Promoted wine, conducted tastings and trained new recruits for multi-national wine distributor at POP venues and special events, including the South Beach Food & Wine Festival.

Library /Media Center Para Professional (1995-1996) Miami, Florida Assisted faculty, students, and students' parents in the use of multimedia research resources at Calusa Elementary School. Prepared and inventoried new acquisitions for shelving and checked materials in and out of library using Circ+ Software. Implemented after school program in library, providing students with an introduction to technology and library research skills. Fulfilled terms of grant funding.

Graphic & Web Designer (2003 - Current) Homestead & Miami, Florida Conceptualized, designed and maintained 36 page website for ArtSouth Homestead, Fl 2005-2008. Responsible for all aspects of design, including photography, digital imagery, web design and print graphic promotional materials from conception to completion. Interacted with artists and staff, maintaining up to date information for announcements, calls to artists and calendar.

Fine Art & Adobe Photoshop Instructor (2006 – Current) Homestead, Key Largo & Miami, Florida Taught watercolor painting at Ocean Reef Club Art League. Developed syllabus and taught digital photography and Adobe Photoshop to at-risk students participating in the Service Learning Program from Miami-Dade County Public Schools on site at ArtSouth Homestead through June 2008. Selected and prepared students’ work for exhibitions. Tutored, taught classes and workshops. Conceived and published a workshop for creating a published book with iPhoto on the web.

Professional Fine Artist ( 2002-Current) Homestead & Miami, Florida Studio Artist at ArtSouth, a not-for-profit artists’ community in Homestead, Fl. through June 2008. Served on Board of Directors 2003-2004 as artists’ representative and 2005 -2008 as webmaster. Administrated monthly artists’ meetings. Created Artwork, including paintings, photography, video, multimedia installations and collaborative works. Exhibitions include Aqua Munde at the Florida State Capitol Complex in Tallahassee, Fl and Biscayne National Park in Homestead Fl and The Colors of Wine at the Charles Deering Estate at Cutler in Pinecrest Fl.

• Served as artists’ elected member to ArtSouth Board of Directors 2003-2004 and 2005-2008. Administrated monthly Artists’ meetings, attended monthly Board of Directors’ Meetings, acted as liaison between the resident artists and the Board of Directors.
• Served on Crossings Homeowners Assn. Architectural Committee nine years (from 1993-2004). Duties included resolving homeowners’ disputes, reviewing architectural changes, and approving color schemes.
• Served as Chairperson for Cultural Arts Committee for Calusa Elementary School from 1995-1998. Selected and booked presentations, enhancing curriculum with an emphasis on ethnic diversity. Reported to PTA Board and School Administrator, arranging scheduling, fees and disbursements. Volunteered in school library.
